It is almost impossible not to feel some emotions. You have to wait 90 seconds and by that time most of it will have subsided. Acting on an emotion is a choice. It is hard to find a justification for some emotions such as jealousy or envy. Again like you said feeling it is one thing, acting on it is quite another.

I was riveted by your post and fascinated by your conclusions but wow- I don’t fully agree. First off the difference between fear and doubt in regards to Jesus, in my view, negligible. I believe it is said he cried out “Father, why have you forsaken me?” which to my mind infers doubt and fear both.

But the analysis of your aunt- could be very generous on your part. Spoiling your children isn’t loving them too deeply - it’s in my mind the most selfish and easy path to avoiding the most important responsibility we’re ever entrusted to accomplish.
