I Am Like Everyone Else — Poem
A reminder that our differences are often just different versions of the same truth.
Some days, we forget how human we are.
We think our fears are unique, our contradictions rare, our hopes strange.
But the more we listen — really listen — the more we realize this:
We are all just trying to make sense of ourselves.
Carrying invisible weights. Wrestling with our shadows.
Wanting to matter. Wanting to be seen.
This poem is a mirror for that quiet truth —
the one we rarely say out loud,
but all feel deeply.
Here is today’s manifest:
I Am Like Everyone Else
I am like everyone else, you see.
In my own little kingdom, I am king —
my values, my rules, my quiet laws,
my regrets, my mistakes… the cross I carry.
I am like everyone else.
I know the taste of fear.
Doubt visits my faith more often than I admit.
I carry weights no one sees.
My heart, like every heart,
holds dreams of something greater,
longs for a life painted in many colors,
and reaches for bonds that feel like joy.
I am like everyone else.
I have my demons, my passions,
I fall for the poisons of illusion,
I wrestle with my thoughts, my intentions.
I am like you — like everyone.
Proud when victory lifts me up,
saddened and ashamed when failure looks me in the eyes,
heartbroken when temptation wins again.
I am like everyone, honestly.
I want to be seen, I want to be heard.
I want to matter,
and sometimes… I need to be told “well done.”
I am like them — like all of us.
Different roads, the same storms.
Heavy pasts still breathing in the present,
all of us walking, quietly,
toward a little more freedom.

Well done.
I loved this poem and it’s a realization that has grown stronger since I joined Substack. I see people openly sharing and talking about things I used to believe only I stressed about. Your poem expresses that oneness so beautifully ✨🤩
