The Splendor of Wholeness
A whole being,
A heart balanced
Between beauty
And danger.
A divided being,
Often admired
For its beauty,
And judged
For its dangerous side.
A tormented being,
Revealing only half of itself,
Forced to choose
Between a smile
And vulnerability.
Troubles of the mind,
Doses of euphoria,
An endless dance,
Like the cycle of day and night.
A whole being,
Yet never whole.
Praised for what is pleasant,
Prey to unwanted waves.
We live within a whole nature,
Bearing summer as it bears winter.
Everything around us is complete,
Everything carries an abstract balance.
The rose, sublime beauty,
Capable of wounding too.
Fire, warmth and light,
And a relentless destroyer.
Without peril,
Nature would be bland.
Would the lion be admired
Without its ferocity?
Without its fangs,
Would it still be as beautiful?
Splendor,
A balance of beauty
And danger.
The cycle of a beating heart.
The rose offers its thorn to the eye,
The ocean cradles its daring wave,
Fire burns as fiercely as it shines,
The lion roars without apology.
A whole being.
Unapologetic!
I feel, therefore, I live.
